Atlantis Found!

Opened in late 2008 with a much-hyped bang on Dubai's even more hyped Palm Jumeirah island, the Atlantis resort is certainly worth a visit. We rode the monorail on the Palm and other than a brief foray into the shopping center, mostly admired the resort from the outside.

View of the resort from the monorail.

The monorail gives the best location for a good frontal photo.

View from the back.

The highly-coloured domed ceilings in some parts of the shopping center.....couldn't fit the entire painting into the shot :)

Look Up!

My friend Reflections recently put up pictures of the latest entrant in Dubai's lavish mall galaxy - the Dubai Mall. Specifically, the pictures were of the ceilings. If you're a stranger to Dubai's shopping scene, you might be forgiven for asking what's special about the ceilings. In my experience, a walk through most malls in Dubai will have you looking up (and gaping!) as much as you look around.

Anyway, those lovely pictures prompted me to check my pic stash, and as it turns out, I do have a few ceiling shots of my current favourite mall in Dubai (in terms of decor and design) - the must-visit Ibn Batutta Mall.

From My Second Home City

I went home to Bombay recently, but somehow ended up with pictures only of the people I love, not the places :-S

Then I realised that this blog doesn't have anything at all yet from another city I consider home, so here are some images from the best part of Abu Dhabi, the incredibly gorgeous Corniche Road.

The setting sun silhouettes the Emirates Palace Hotel.

One perfect evening when I happened to have my camera, and nature did all the rest :)

The Moods Outside My Window

One of the things I've been most grateful for in the past year is the flat we call home, especially because of views like these:

Fluffy whites floated by one fine summer's day.

Cotton-candy puffs amidst darker rain clouds.

Rain clouds creeping in during the monsoons.

Pink blossoms at the end of the day.

Sunset reflected on my balcony door.

The Hibiscus Series!

Somewhere along the line, rather unintentionally, I became a hibiscus clicker! Its not like they're my favourite flowers, but I feel compelled to click whenever I see one, and this is what I've got so far:

The one that started it all - taken in Coorg.

Bangalore in Bloom!

We headed out to Lalbagh Botanical Gardens last Sunday morning, and on the drive over we noticed that our favourite tree - the Tabebuia - had burst into bloom in this absolutely stunning, vivid pink. Got a chance to click only once we reached Lalbagh.

Also stopped to click these pretty blossoms.
